In 2003, the year of the launch of Textures’ debut album Polars, the first reactions start to stream in: “This is the best metal album that’s ever come out of the Netherlands” according to Holland’s most credible music magazine Oor. The standard is set. Textures, once just a promising up-and-coming band, has now emerged, 4 albums later, as an established name in the worldwide metal scene. While inspiring loads of modern metalbands and paving the way for mathcore, djent and modern prog, Textures always go their own way.
With ‘Polars’ and ‘Silhouettes’ both acclaimed as international standard works in metal, Textures set high standards for their new musical diptych. Everybody from Europe to the U.S. to India could sing along to the singles ‘Awake’ and ‘Reaching Home’, which received prime time airplay while the video clip for ‘Awake’ racked up airplay on MTV in Europe and Russia, and VH1 in India. The band played at the Great Escape in the UK, and also toured with Gojira, Arch Enemy, Tesseract and Fear Factory.
The year 2015 marks the start of the era PHENOTYPE – GENOTYPE. Two albums, released on Nuclear Blast Records, around one concept. The Dutch sextet is not a band to put out an album every year in a row: The band took over 2 years to write and record albums no.5 and 6 with details crafted and re-crafted. PHENOTYPE ,the first album to be released, is a song-based, 60-minute long album. Here Textures presents an eclectic overview of what modern metal offers. Catchy, innovative and progressive songs welcoming new virtuosos Uri Dijk (synth) and Joe Tal (guitar) who deliver a new, harmonic vibe to the mature Textures sound. With two new albums in the pocket Textures will be hitting the road once again, touring all over the world in support of the album and going places where they’ve never been before, both literally and metaphoricall.
