Recordstore.co.uk's album of the month for March is the second album from Brighton's Blood Red Shoes
The return of Brighton punk duo Blood Red Shoes was rumoured to be a more "pop" proposition, but thankfully their second album 'Fire Like This' is a non-stop rollercoaster of thundering riffs and pounding drums that wouldn't sound out of place in a Seattle club during the early 90s (that's a massive compliment by the way).
Drummer/Vocalist Steven Ansell (one-half of the group with guitarist/vocalist Laura-Mary Carter) says of the new album, "We wanted to make a record that's heavier and more adventurous than the first album and ended up with something that feels a lot darker and eerie. It has more complex song structures and intricate guitar parts than before. We really tried to push ourselves as vocalists and not hide behind lots of overdubs, I think because of that it's more personal and more real too."

Reviews
"Blood Red Shoes (are) quietly becoming one of the most thrillingly loud bands we've got"

NME (8 out of 10)
"they turn up both the amps and the tunes to deliver one of the most enjoyably pure rock records of the year thus far and if there's any justice left in the world it's also the record which will introduce them to a wider world waiting to be shocked out of it's indifferent, electro-pop stupor.

Subba-Cultcha (8 out of 10)
"a famous band may have once turned it up to 11 but this album sees the duo break the amp controls on their way to domination of the British rock scene"

The Music Fix (8 out of 10)
"Think the White Stripes with the roles flipped over, less blues and an injection of pure-bred punk-rock and you're on the right track."
